Columbine Flower

The common name for the genus Aquilegia. The leaves resemble those of the maidenhair fern, and the multicolored flowers come in nearly every shade. Aquilegia owes its name to the resemblance of its petals and sepals to a flock of doves. They are useful in woodland gardens, in rock gardens, along the borders of streams or ponds, or in borders.
